HopeAI is a public charity with IRS 501(c)(3) status. It was started by Amr Mohsen with his strong passion to contribute to the rehabilitation of inmates. After earning his Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Caltech, pursuing rewarding careers with Intel Co. and Bell telephone Labs, and founding two successful high-tech companies, he was entangled in a patent litigation related to one of his patents leading to his spending time in prison. There, he experienced the shortcomings of U.S. prison rehabilitation system, and how reforms with advanced technologies are needed to educate inmates and prepare them for successful reentry in society.
